Krista Israel is the designer of the 2015 Member Object.
The object called Tinsel consists of two parts. The size of the apple is (lxwxh) 7.5 x 9 x 10 cm and the size of the “bite” is 6.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm.
The committee finds that the property stands out for its contemporary design, use of various techniques and materials. Because this apple raises several questions and a multitude of associations. Krista Israel pulls the apple away from its mundanity, innocence and purity.
The committee finds it clever that Krista Israel manages to bring together so many layers and references, to both old and new times, in this seemingly innocuous object. And sees the mysterious missing piece from the apple as a special additional invitation to let your own questions and imagination run wild about it.
