Autumn AGM and Glass Day November 3, 2024

During the ALV, Georges Dusart is elected as a new board member. Georges talks vividly about his passion for glass and which ideas he has already brought to the board to further shape internationalization towards Belgium.

The board is pleased that several members have already volunteered to get involved with the VVMG. The board is making a general call to all members to sign up for a committee or the board.

The board, having a series of good discussions with the Modern Glass Foundation, proposed to the meeting a new methodology regarding the Stipendia for glass artists. The method involves discontinuing the Stipendia of the VVMG, promoting the Stipendia of the Modern Glass Foundation through, among other things, the newsletter and the magazine Glas, and inviting artists who receive a Stipendium from the Modern Glass Foundation to explain their Stipendium during a presentation following the ALVs. The meeting indicates that there should be a clear procedure on how exactly this will be done and concludes that the new methodology will be more interesting for the artists.

During “Glasrijk Tubbergen,” all entries for the Bernadine de Neeve Prize 2024/2025 were exhibited. Initially, there were 14 entries; after a renewed call, a total of 59 artists submitted entries. From all the entries, the jury finally selected Florian van Dalen, Patricia Overdam and Krista Israels as finalists. The intention is to exhibit their work at the National Glass Museum in Leerdam from April 5 to June 15, 2025.

The meeting adopts the 2025 budget and is positive that dues for 2025 do not need to be increased. The meeting also unanimously approves the appointment of Albert-Jan Peters as a new member of the Cash Audit Committee and Rob Laagland is appointed to the Continuity Committee. It is also agreed that the board will strengthen contact with the Atelier Committee and the Social Media Committee.

Finally, the meeting shared several ideas on how to shape the anniversary year in 2026 (“40 years of VVMG”). Simone Tuinenberg will form a committee with the board to develop this further.

Following the ALV, artist Boris de Beijer will inspire members with an explanation of the member object 2024, the first copy of which will be on display during the “Glass Expo 2024” at the Walburgiskerk in Zutphen.

As a reminder, the order form for the 2024 member item is available on the VVMG website.
